SWOT analysis: educational platforms used by mathematics teachers in Barranquilla – Colombia

Abstract

Taking into account the current technological progress and the use of computer tools as a means for the development of education in 2020, this research aimed to analyze the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats of the most used educational platforms by mathematics teachers in Barranquilla - Colombia. It was conducted under a qualitative methodology using a structured interview as a data collection instrument, in which teachers of mathematics from various institutions in the city were asked to share their views about which platforms they use the most and also what benefits and difficulties they have in implementing them. The results point out that the use of educational platforms provides a more dynamic space for interaction, allows the student to perform autonomous work and sometimes eliminates the barrier of space and time, although all this is closely linked to some risks and disadvantages.
